Newton Public Schools needs some Education Majors!


Newton Public Schools has Substitute Teacher, Teacher’s Aides, and Special Education Aides positions available. All jobs are considered Part-Time and require 2 years of college.

Instructional Support Staff (Substitute Teachers)
Instructional Support Staff are regular, part-time employees who fulfill daily substitute teaching needs at an assigned school. Potential work schedules are 1, 2 or 3 full days per week. Positions are available at the elementary and middle school levels.
The position is part time but you must be available full days during the week.  You don’t have to be available every day.

Special Education Aide (part-time)
Assist the classroom teacher to include the student in all aspects of the school day. Implement academic and social programming and strategies as developed by the team. Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined on the IEP and developed by the team. Implement behavior plans as developed by the team. Assist in data collection. Promote social interactions throughout the day. Support students with adapted living skills such as toileting, feeding, dressing etc. as needed. Communicate on a regular basis with the family or as directed by the school team. Maintain confidentiality about all personal information regarding the student, programming and family. Assist in all aspects of the school day whether or not such aspects directly pertain to the individual student, this includes supervision at recess, lunch or other “duties”. Responsible for implementing “other job related duties” as assigned by the supervisor or Principal.

Classroom Aide (part-time)
Assist the classroom teacher in all aspects of the school day. Support instruction by working with students individually and in small groups. Prepare instructional materials. Assist in classroom set up and clean up. Manage individual and classroom behavior. Supervise students at recess, lunch or other “duties”. Support students with self-care skills (toileting, dressing, etc.) as needed. Other duties as needed.
