Position Title: Bike to Market Intern

Bike to Market is the Boston Cyclists Union's outdoor bicycle school. Mechanic skills are NOT required—but an enthusiasm for learning those skills and interacting with people from a wide variety of backgrounds is a big plus. In Spring and Winter this intern is involved in bringing volunteers and board members together to help plan the summer program as well as preparing promotional tools and building coalitions with other organizations. In Summer they are out working on bikes, organizing new volunteers, talking to people about bike safety or otherwise having an amazing time. As with all internships at the Union—the responsibility for other office and event work is shared.

Qualifications for all interns:
• Commitment to promoting the bicycle.
• Happy to work in a small tight-knit team for a rapidly growing organization.
• Organized and self motivated.

• Sales, customer service, or fundraising experience.
• Program management experience.
• Tech savvy of all kinds.

Internships are unpaid but we are happy to help students earn academic credit for their work. Interns who leave the organization in good standing may request a letter of recommendation from our staff. Former interns for the Bike Union have secured paid jobs at urban planning firms and state agencies.
