Newton North High School offers internship opportunities to local college students. If you are interested in applying for an internship in the Athletics Department please see the attached file with application instructions. Newton North is accessible via the 52 bus, but a car would be recommended.
APPLICATION FOR PRE-PRACTICUM CANDIDATES
In order to be considered for a pre-practicum placement at NNHS, please submit the following to the Office of Student Teaching either electronically or by paper copy:
1. A cover letter that includes a short statement about why you want to complete your pre-practicum at Newton North High School and addresses your qualifications for a pre-practicum.
2. A resumé or CV and current transcript.
After we receive your cover letter, resumé, and transcript you may be selected for an interview with the Office of Student Teaching and the Department Head. As part of that interview we will ask you to present a five-minute mini-lesson to the interviewers on a topic of your choosing. You will also be required to successfully submit a CORI check.
Please submit your application as soon as possible for placement during the current semester. If you are selected, we will inform you of an interview time shortly after receiving your application, and will make a final decision within a reasonable amount of time for him/her to begin the placement.
Completing a pre-practicum at Newton North increases the chance that a student be placed at NNHS for a practicum because s/he will know the students, the school, and the faculty. However, there is a separate application process for all practicum candidates, with no guarantee of placement, regardless of where the student completed his/her pre-practicum.
