Open Teaching Positions at Paraclete in Boston - housing included!

The Paraclete Academy in Boston, MA, seeks mission-driven teachers who want to work for social justice through education. Working with our 60 students, from 11 different countries who speak 9 different languages, is the basis of a profound year of service. Paraclete students are low-income (about 60% live below the poverty line) and fiercely dedicated to their studies, demonstrated by their regular twelve-hour school days.
· Paraclete teachers plan creative classes that engage students through non-traditional pedagogies. We strive to incorporate hands-on, project based learning in all of our classes. In addition to teaching math and English classes, teachers are able to plan at least one class around their own interests to engage students in new fields like Comic Book Making, Forensic Science, Art from around the World, and Filmmaking
· Paraclete teachers enjoy free housing with amazing views of downtown Boston. They live in community with other recent college graduates who have worked at the Paraclete in previous years. This community is a wonderful spring board for exploring a new city.
· Paraclete teachers receive a small stipend, food expenses and insurance. In addition, teachers receive an education award of $5,500 dollars for past or future educational costs.
· We work in the after-school setting and have three overarching goals: to support our students’ academic development, to enrich their educations through explorations and to help families navigate the Boston school landscape.
