Summer teaching internship-South Boston

The Paraclete Academy is a tuition-free, coed, out of school enrichment program for middle school youth in South Boston. They seek to develop critically thinking, articulate, and compassionate students with a strong sense of self-worth.
The Position:The Paraclete Academy is seeking summer interns who are passionate about education as a means of social justice. We run a summer program that seeks to balance academic rigor with fun field trips for students living in South Boston. Interns will report to both teachers and the principal and will assist in classroom preparations, lesson planning, teaching, chaperoning field trips.

 Responsibilities:
•Research and plan English and Math lessons for 4th, 5th and 6th graders
•Plan field trips
•Assist Paraclete teachers in the classroom, teach lessons as needed
•Tutor students
•Chaperone field trips
•Perform administrative duties as needed

Qualifications
•Current college student seeking a BA or BS
•Experience working with youth
•Interest in the field of education
•Strong work ethic, ability to solve problems independently
•Strong ability to work both individually and as a member of a team
