What the job entails:

Compensation/Benefits:

Maine Conservation Corps Field Team Member

Purpose: The MCC provides community service opportunities and career training for those interested in pursuing a career in natural resources. Members serve Maine’s communities, participate in the AmeriCorps program, and gain hands-on experience.

Maine Conservation Corps AmeriCorps Environmental Steward

AmeriCorps Environmental Steward (POSITION AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY)
The Maine Conservation Corps (MCC) is accepting applications for AN AmeriCorps Environmental Steward position located at Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal, Maine for 2014. MCC is dedicated to environmental education, outdoor recreation and conservation projects, volunteer opportunities, and developing career and leadership skills. Environmental Stewards serve in 900 hour positions throughout the State of Maine.

900 hour positions receive a living allowance of $6,240 ($260/week for 24 weeks) and if eligible, an AmeriCorps education award of $2,775 upon successful completion of the program. Other benefits include health insurance during service with COBRA benefits at the completion of service, student loan forbearance & interest payment, experiential learning, a wide range of training and networking and a Maine State Park Pass.

Project Overview: This project will utilize one AmeriCorps Environmental Steward to provide key stewardship in planning and implementing recreational and educational opportunities at Bradbury Mountain State Park (BMSP) in Pownal, Maine. BMSP is the Bureau of Parks and Lands premier mountain biking facility. Generally, the AmeriCorps Environmental Steward will work with the extensive trail network at this park. This will include organizing, recruiting and implementing volunteer trail work days to construct and maintain trails; providing education about this multi-use trail system; working with the Greater Portland- New England Mountain Bike Association, the local mountain biking community and other special interest groups (equestrians, hikers, snowmobile clubs, etc.); and leading trailside interpretive programs. Knowledge and enthusiasm for multi-use trails, including single-track mountain bike trails is a plus.  

Days and Hours of Service: 40 hours per week, may include evenings, weekends and holidays.

(2) Develop/improve partnerships with user groups to address issues and needs. Work with the Bureau to forge a greater connection to the user communities, by collaborating with user groups in events initiated by the Bureau or interest groups. There are several biking events scheduled at BMSP each season. The position will also foster relationships with other user groups including snowmobilers and equestrians.
(3) Trail maintenance. Provide trail maintenance and improvement on an extensive multi-use trail system. There are about 30 miles of existing trails at BMSP.
(4) Education/interpretation. Work with the park staff to develop and lead interpretive programs about the trails, environmental and cultural resources at the park.

Math Teaching Fellowships in Salem and Boston

Blueprint Fellows play an integral role in heightening student achievement in schools across the country. On a daily basis, Fellows build individualized lessons based on predetermined curriculum and plan activities that help to fill in academic gaps students may have to strengthen academic performance inside the classroom. During the course of the year, Fellows are building strong relationships that help to increase each student’s self-confidence in and commitment to his/her education, helping to foster a positive future for each student.

While teachers have classrooms of 25 or 30 students, Fellows manage no more than 4 students at a time. This allows for the individualization of remedial and supplemental instruction. Fellows receive on-going mentoring and professional development as well as receive written evaluation of feedback from their assigned Fellows Coordinator. Fellows are charged with focusing on the individual needs of their students, helping to bolster and accelerate student achievement while helping to close any skill gaps that may exist.

Expectations
Fellows have a variety of responsibilities that allow them to be an integral piece of their student’s educational experience. -Some involvement in creating client quotes, invoices, and vendor purchase orders
-Duties related to social media marketing presence of firm

 Ideal candidate will be highly detail oriented, and have a true passion for all aspects of interior decoration and design, and be willing to pitch in at all levels of a project. Must have demonstrated outstanding organizational, managerial, communication, and problem solving skills.

Intern will be involved in all stages of interior decoration and design projects from the conceptual stage -presentation boards, space planning, surface and finish selections, furniture, textile and accessory selections, - through final installation of project.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (1) AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, hand rendering (2) Knowledge of furniture, fabrics, and finishes is preferred, along with the knowledge of fine detailing in upholstery/soft goods, furniture, accessories, and space planning. (3) Understanding of design concepts, use of color, and texture; (4) Ability to read and understand construction drawings. (5) Demonstrated writing skills.

Note:
College credits and a performance based stipend is provided upon the completion of the internship.
A car is a requirement as they travel to job sites weekly.

Neiman Marcus Studio in Dedham - Loss Prevention Associate

Neiman Marcus Studio is opening up a new store in Legacy Place in Dedham. The Grand Opening will be in July. This is an off-price version of Neiman Marcus and they are hiring a full-time Loss Prevention Associate. Nights, weekends and holidays are required (as in all retail jobs). A car is needed to get to Legacy Place. 

The job involves protecting company assets from internal and external sources, conducting camera scans on apprehensions, loss prevention audits, investigating charge card fraud, facilitating loss prevention awareness training. Previous loss prevention experience desired, excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Neiman Marcus Studio is opening up a new store in Legacy Place in Dedham. The Grand Opening will be in July. This is an off-price version of Neiman Marcus and they are hiring full-time and part-time Sales Associates, Fine Jewelry Sales Associates, and Stock Associates. The pay is $10.50-$11.00 depending on experience. 2-3 years of experience is preferred for Sales Associate. Nights, weekends and holidays are required (as in all retail jobs). A car is needed to get to Legacy Place.

The Sales Associate position involves building customer relations. The Stock Associate job involves overseeing shipping and receiving of goods, processing new merchandise and changing prices.
